Daiso – bargain shopping in Japan

In Japan, 100 yen shops, or one-coin shops, similar to dollar stores in the United States and pound shops in the U.K., are commonly known as “hyakkin”. Daiso is a major player in the 100 yen shop industry – so much so that its name has become synonymous with hyakkin. Daiso is a great place to go bargain hunting, if you’re after some practical travel items (sunscreen, lipstick, bags etc), or if you just want to buy some cheap Japanese “stuff”. They have everything from stationery, to cosmetics, and even gardening tools. Well worth a look, it certainly won’t cost you much!
